From punishing to pleasurable, how cursive writing is looping back into our hearts (Washington Post)

Anybody out there have a “morning pages” habit? Do you keep it up in an analog fashion, or do you do so digitally (say, on a website like 750words.com)?

I’m terrible with disciplines like this, but I’m considering giving this a shot for the possible therapeutic benefit.

Libation on a cloudy evening: Lithuanian honey liqueur and soda water. Tastes faintly like ouzo, but a bit sweeter. 📷

Went to the city for brunch with friends I haven’t seen in years. Almost backed out because I feel so old and pudgy. I mean, I am old and pudgy. But it turns out we’re all old, and only some of us are pudgy — but it turns out that’s okay.

Three straight late evenings of work at home is enough. Time for a civilized night’s rest. ‘Night.

So, I had to guess my kid’s favorite color during Curriculum Night. I said “blue, pink, or purple.”

She said “cerulean, violet, or rose.”

I wasn’t necessarily wrong.

Cerulean? Who the hell says “cerulean” in fifth grade?

This, incidentally, is B.K., short for Bright Lights, Big Kitty. He gets into my occasional photos of new beer/cider finds. He does not have a drinking problem, but then that could explain why he’s apparently been a lousy mouser in recent months. 📷

Okay, now I’m feeling guilty about this whole mousetrap thing. Maybe I’d feel less guilty if we just got a second cat to hunt them down in a circle-of-life kind of deal.

I just heard the loud “whack” of one of my husband’s mousetraps succeeding. I wish there was a far kinder (but effective) way to get rid of mice. All I know is that (1) I don’t want mice in my house, and (2) We really need to dock the cat’s pay for slacking on the job.

There’s hope for me yet.

Deleted a tweet with my use of the phrase “rat-faced she-hyena with ’80s feathered hair” regarding a fallen senatorial candidate. Guess I’m finally growing up.

I don’t necessarily care about this story. I just like the use of the word “lickspittle” in the headline.

Can Trump find a sufficiently devoted lickspittle to replace Don McGahn? (Washington Post)

Is it wrong to look at my screen and audibly tell Facebook that no, I don’t really want more friends from you? And that I don’t even want to follow most of the friends you have for me already?

Sigh. And with that, I think I’ve done enough working into the wee hours. Good night.

I love living near a city that holds a CatVideoFest. (Ticket sales benefit local cat charities and shelters.)

I’ve tried four of these. Added to the bucket list: Head to Texas and try this Big Red stuff.

Went Pokémon hunting this afternoon with the 10-year-old from the comfort of an air-conditioned Forester. We’ll hike around for Pokémon, like our ancestors did, when it’s not as hot as Mercury out there.
